Bespoke health and safety policies

Health and safety policies can be time consuming to produce, especially if you’re not familiar with the process and the information required. Sophus Safety Solutions will make it easy for you to ensure your business is legally compliant and a safe place to work.
If you employ 5 or more staff you have a legal obligation to have a written health and safety policy, which should cover everything you do.

Your health and safety policy document should be divided into three sections:

• a general policy statement signed and dated by a senior director
• details of the organisation, including who is responsible for health and safety and welfare issues. This includes arrangements and procedures to make sure everyone is aware of what needs to be done, and who is responsible for doing it
• existing health and safety policies and reviews.

This is what you need to have in place as a basic standard. However, when fundamental changes occur and new hazards arise as new equipment and substances are introduced, the Health and Safety at Work Act requires you to keep your policies up to date.

If your business has existing health and safety policy and procedures, we can ensure that they meet with current best practice – and comply with the law.
It’s simple. We’ll review your current documentation, prepare a report for you and amend or rewrite your policy as necessary.

Competent persons support

Under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations you need to appoint what’s known as a ‘competent person’. Sophus Safety Solutions can take on that role and supply advice and share knowledge with you.
We can, if required train your staff to a basic level of competence, so that when a situation arises you can not only deal with the issue but manage the situation appropriately.
We can also offer telephone and email support, during normal office hours from 9.00am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, with a special emergency service outside these hours.
