    SITE SAFETY INSPECTIONS

Regular and thorough health and safety inspections ensure that your business is covered, and are required by law. Thorough risk assessments can help to protect your business from claims in the event of an incident.

Site Inspections
Annual inspections

As an employer, you’re obliged to monitor the measures you have in place to prevent accidents and ill health. Employers, owners and landlords of business premises also have to make sure workplaces meet certain standards. Ideally, your health and safety inspection should be annual.

Sophus Safety Solutions will carry out thorough annual inspections to ensure your business is up-to-date and fully compliant. As well as looking at the physical aspects, we’ll also review the practices and activities that take place there.

We provide a detailed health and safety inspection report for each area of your premises with a timescale for any actions to be completed. This will include any actions that need to be addressed by your landlord or managing agent.

Risk assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)

Without suitable and sufficient risk assessments your business is at risk. But having the right risk assessments in place can negate unwanted claims.

We will work with you and your staff to identify safe methods of working within your business and help you to incorporate them into appropriate task-specific RAMS.

A workplace risk assessment may also identify areas that you need to improve, such as providing training for people using certain pieces of equipment. Sound health and safety systems let you identify hazards and assess risks. Once you’ve done this you can introduce and maintain control measures with only limited external support.

Under the Management of Health and Safety Regulations you must keep your workplace risk assessments under review, so reviews should be part of your standard management practice.

Sophus Safety Solutions recommends assessments should be done annually by someone with enough relevant knowledge to cover all the details. We can take on that role for you, as well as training your appointed person in the basics (see our Competent Person service).
